

Donald Dalton Wales, born on September 4th, 1941 in Enderby, British Columbia, passed on Friday, June 23rd, 2023 in Calgary, Alberta. Don came from a family of 12 children, he was the second youngest child of Charles and Winnifred Wales.
Don moved out of the family farm at the young age of 14, to join the workforce. He started working at a lumber mill, then moved to Calgary where he met his soulmate, Shirley (nee Lai) in 1973. They married in 1975. He began work as an automotive mechanic and then a Heavy Duty Mechanic at Finning International Inc, where he worked for 39 years. He retired there as a Power Systems Technician.
Don enjoyed being a Scout leader for his son for 14 years, bowling with his children, fishing on his boat and playing crib with anyone he could. Don loved being able to bring his grandchildren to Kootenay Lake in the summers; to enjoy the place where he had been going to with his own family for over 30 years. He loved to travel with his wife between 2000 and 2013 to various countries. He attended church religiously and loved being a part of their community. He was baptised and welcomed into Roman Catholic Faith on June 07, 2023.
Don is survived by his wife Shirley of 47 years, children Lyndsay and Christopher, daughter-in-law Jennifer and grandchildren Tempus and KayLynne. Don is also survived by his older sisters Maud Wales and Ruth Jones (David) of British Columbia along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Bethany Riverview, and the staffs of the third floor south, Prairie Sky, for their exceptional care, and kindness to Don. Great friendship and concern for Shirley was greatly appreciated.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a Prayer Service to be held at Corpus Christi Parish, 404 Northmount Pl NW, Calgary, on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Corpus Christi on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
