

Edith passed away peacefully at Rouleau Manor on Monday, December 17, 2012. She was born in Calgary, Alberta to Hector and Florence Ingram on July 29, 1923. Edith spent her youth in Calgary and is survived by her high school sweetheart and soulmate, Ted (Edwin) Bethell. They were married on November 18, 1944 and recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. Edith worked at the Income Tax Office until Ted returned from the war and then they began housekeeping and raised their children. She is survived by daughters, Sharron (Bob) Blaine, Susan (Tom) Couchman; son, Michael (Sharon) Bethell; 7 grandchildren: Vicky, Janice, David, Erin, Kate, Jayne and Matt; 6 great grandchildren: Paul, Mayah, Abigail, Elliott, Ava and Will; and sister, Pat Kearns each of whom will mourn her passing. Family was always Edith’s main focus in life and she will be greatly missed and remembered by all. She is predeceased by her brothers, Hector “Bud” Ingram and Gordon Ingram. Edith was a long-time member of the United Church Women’s group and was a founding member and volunteer for 20 years at Calgary Meals on Wheels. After their retirement, Ted and Edith enjoyed many vacations to international locations and spent 6 months fixing up and entertaining family at their cottage in the Cottswolds, England. After their return from England, they spent many happy years residing between Calgary and White Rock, BC as well as enjoying their cottage at Ghost Lake. Edith will be lovingly remembered by all her family and extended family as a warm, welcoming wife, mother, grandma, auntie and friend. The family would like to thank the staff at Rouleau Manor for their care and attention to our mother. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Alzheimer’s Society of Calgary www.canadahelps.org/.
