September 28, 1940 – October 10, 2020
Edward (TED) was born in Edmonton, AB Sept. 28 1940. After his dad passed away in 1943 he moved with his mother and sister to Salmon Arm BC. Where he grew up and got his education. He worked in the forest industry and joined the Military in 1962 and proudly served for 20 years with the PPCLI. He met his beloved wife Helga in May 1962 while he was stationed in Iserlohn, Germany. They got married October 22 1965 in Germany. While stationed overseas they both traveled within Europe. Their first child (Jennifer) was born in Germany in July of 1968. In November 1968 Ted was transferred back to Calgary where he and his family remained. They welcomed their second child (Janine) in September 1976. After leaving the Military Ted continued to work in Calgary until retirement. Ted was a very loving and caring man. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved gardening, golfing, fishing, traveling and spending quality time with his family including his granddaughter and four grandsons. Ted enjoyed keeping in contact with friends from the military and catching up with them. He joined the PPCLI association and the local legion 285 where he loved volunteering. He also enjoyed going to the many social functions, celebrations and dinners at the legion. Ted and Helga are members of Southwood United Church where Ted also volunteered at various services when needed. Ted fought Thyroid and Lung cancer for 8 years. Sadly, he passed away after a valiant fight surrounded by his wife and youngest daughter and the love from his family. Ted was preceded in death by his father, sister, mother and daughter. Ted is survived by his loving wife Helga, daughter Janine (Steve), son in-law Randall, granddaughter Cassandra and grandsons Bryce, Ryan, Kyle and Jorden.
