Ellen was born in Calgary, Alberta to Allan and June Cooper (Meldrum). Growing up, she spent time living in Calgary, Ottawa and in British Columbia. At the age of 15 she met Bob, the love of her life, and they were married 3 years later. Early in her career, Ellen became a part of the Motion Picture Industry in Canada, working her way through the ranks. Her dedication to the industry made her a long-standing member of the Motion Picture Pioneers. Bob and Ellen spent many years living in the community of Inglewood where they raised their family. Ellen was involved in many community activities, including school council, the community association and perhaps most importantly, Girl Guides of Canada. Brown Owl will forever be remembered by all of the girls she worked with over the more than 25 years with the organization.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Bob, children Allison (Vikramaditya) and James and her brother Malcom. She will be lovingly remembered by a variety of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Al and June Cooper (Meldrum), and her brother Bill Cooper.
A Celebration of Ellen’s Life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 7:00 PM.
