Mrs. Elsie Utzig

Elsie Utzig passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the age of 96 years, with her loving husband by her side.

Elsie was born on July 9, 1923 in Dermansdorf, Ukraine. She lived a courageous life, going through difficult times during the war. Starting over in Germany after the war, Elsie immigrated to Canada in 1948. Through it all, she remained positive, worked hard and her strength of character persevered leaving family and friends with many fond and loving memories. Elsie was an astute business woman and worked alongside Harry in his many enterprises.

Mourning her loss is her husband Harry of 66 years; two sons, Richard of Calgary, Peter (Tricia) and grandson Caelan of Vancouver, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Elsie was predeceased by an infant daughter, son Asim (Dieter) 2009, her parents and siblings.

A private funeral service will be held to honour a life well lived.

I met Elsie in the course of working for for years for her husband, Harry. She was always so sweet, loving, thoughtful and kind. I did not know that she has passed, and now that I just found out, I wanted to extend my sincere condolences to Harry Utzig.

Karen and I are sorry to hear of Elsie's passing.
Elsie was kind, compassionate, gracious and the best host and cook ever (Elsie's Rouladen was the best I've ever had). She will certainly be missed by all who knew her.
