Ernest Kwan Yip Tong

Ernest was born on July 25, 1932, in Canton, China, to Ding Kuen Tong and Yim Wun Fung.

Ernest is survived by his daughters, Winnie; Winchi and her husband Robert and their daughter Anjolie; and his son, Raymond and his wife Suzie and their son Tristan; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Ernest will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his church, and his community. He lived life with enthusiasm, warmth, and purpose. With a dedication to teaching and service, he shared his leadership, wisdom, and philosophy with everyone he encountered. Ernest enjoyed staying active by keeping in contact with his many friends, being part of many circles, and being a devoted NBA fan whose passion for the game never faded.

He will be greatly missed, but the memories of his spirit, kindness, and zest for life will remain with us always.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff at the Foothills Hospital for their exceptional care, compassion, and support provided to Ernest and his family.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Monday, January 12th from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.

If anyone wishes to make a donation in Ernest’s memory, it may be made to the Calgary Chinese United Church.

Ernest 於 1932 年 7 月 25 日出生於中國廣州，父母為 湯定權 與 馮艷雲。

他的女兒 Winnie 與 Winchi 以及兒子 Raymond 深深疼愛和尊敬他們的父親, Ernest 將會被他的兒女永遠懷念。

Ernest對家庭、教會及社區有深厚愛意和關懷。他以熱情、溫暖和使命感活出人生，並以奉獻精神和關懷將領導力、智慧與人生哲理分享給每一位遇見他的人。Ernest 一生都保持活躍的步伐，與朋友的聯繫從不間斷，參與多個社群，並且是一位熱愛 NBA 的忠實球迷，他對籃球的熱情從未減退。他充滿活力的情懷、善良與對生命熱情的回憶 將永遠留在我們心中。

家人衷心感謝 Foothills Hospital 的醫生、護士及所有醫療人員對 Ernest 與家人提供的卓越照護、關懷與支持。

欲致敬者可於 2026 年 1 月 12 日（星期一）晚上 7:00 至 9:00 前往 FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL（卡加利市 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Queen’s Park 墓園對面）致哀。

安息禮將於 2026 年 1 月 13 日（星期二）上午 10:00 於 FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL 舉行。
