

Ethel passed away peacefully at the Colonel Belcher Care Centre on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the age of 93 years. She was born in Leader, SK, on February 15, 1923, to parents Percy and Edith Gay and moved to Regina as a child. During the later part of WWII, Ethel volunteered for service and served in the RCAFWD, St. Hyacinthe, Quebec. Ethel was married in 1946 to Henry (Harry) Carmichael and together they raised two sons. She was employed by the University of Calgary in the Departments of Educational Administration and Physchology for many years before retiring. Ethel is sadly missed by her two sons Kevin (Brenda) and Richard (Susan); grandchildren, Tammy (Dave), Tara (Sean), Sarah (Eric) and Andrew; great-grandchildren Soren, Teige, and Phillipa; as well as, her nieces and nephews and their families. Ethel was predeceased by her husband Harry, her parents, her brother Johnny, and two sisters Rose and Ruth. A Celebration of her Life will be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 1102 - 23 Avenue N.W., Calgary on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Kobus Genis officiating.
