Evelyn Margaret Brown passed away peacefully at the Chinook Hospice on December 23, 2021 at the age of 90 years. Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years Pat; son Doug (Loretta); daughter Lori (Dean); son Duane; grandchildren Samantha, Jake, Anthony, Amber, Sydney and Tyler; great-grandchildren Maks and Wyatt. Evelyn was predeceased by her sisters Jean and Dorothy and brother Harold. She leaves behind brother Allan of Brandon, Manitoba.
Evelyn was born to Edna and Gordon Chalmers, Christmas Day 1930 on the farm, 3 miles East of Brandon. Evelyn went to a country one-room school 3 miles from the farm. She travelled by horse n’ buggy in the Summer, 1 horse cutter in the Winter, with 2 brothers and 2 sisters until grade 10. Then went to Brandon for grade 11.
She worked at Yaeger's Furs for a short time, before she went to work for J.A. Keddy’s Automotive. That’s where she met Pat Brown. They were married a couple years later in 1954. They remained in Brandon until 1958. Pat changed jobs, came to Alberta to work for Bear Equipment. It was then they started their family. Doug was born in 1959, Lori came along in 1964, and then Duane came along in 1965.
Evelyn and Pat enjoyed camping with friends and family, 10-pin bowling and later took up golfing. They spent may days every week for 20 plus years on Priddis Greens golf course, where they made many friends.
Evelyn took great pride in her family, they always came first. Babysitting and baking for them (What a baker she was). Their home was always open to family, relatives and friends.
We wish to thank the doctors and staff at the Rockyview General Hospital. Also, Chinook Hospice for their kindness, care and consideration.
A Memorial Service will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
