She was born in Simcoe County, Ontario and moved west 52 years ago. Mom was a great cook and liked to entertain. She managed and/or owned several restaurant businesses over the years, the last one in the Canadian Tire on Macleod Trail in Calgary.
The hardest thing for Mom was losing her mobility, as she missed going to her dances, riding her bike, walking and shopping, but she never complained and handled it with grace. Mom didn't have an easy life but she lived it her way. She was bull-headed, independent and spoke her mind, but had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.
Mom will be sadly missed by her children, Louise Procter, Sherry Macdonald (Jim), Vivian Andrews (Ken), Roger Bird; as well as eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren; sister Velma, numerous nieces and nephews and the many friends she has met along the way.
Mom was predeceased by her parents David & Mary Pilkey; sisters Norma, Rose, Rita, Marion; brothers John, and Roy; her daughter Teresa and son-in-law Wayne.
A Memorial Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Lewry officiating.
