Frieda Fung Hing Quon

Frieda (Fung Hing) Quon passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the age of 82 years after a battle with lung cancer and conditions brought on from a stroke.

She was born on July 2, 1939, HoiPing, Guangdong, China. Frieda married her soulmate in Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada in 1961. Together they successfully ran restaurants including the Shamrock Cafe and owning the Orchid Inn on Macleod Trail in Calgary. Frieda was a kind, loving mother and dedicated wife, who was always willing to help others, but never expected to have it returned. She will be warmly remembered for her kindness and untiring spirit.

Frieda is survived by her children Wanda (Dick), Dugane (Sonia), Wendy (Mark), Dugmain (Suzie); grandchildren Emily, Evelyn, and Michelle and step grandchildren Jennifer (Taylor), Matthew and Nicholas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Frieda is predeceased by her loving husband Yee and her sister Li Jian Guan.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff, doctors and nurses of the Emergency Department, Unit 49 at Peter Lougheed Centre, and Unit 62 at Foothills Medical Centre for their compassionate care.

A Funeral Service will be held at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday April 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
