Gary William White

Gary leaves to mourn his wife of 61 years, Letty Lynn; daughter Kari Dubanski (husband Gerry), son Kelly (wife Deanna), beloved grandchildren Samantha White, Spencer and Sydney Dubanski. Gary was predeceased by his parents William and Florence White, sister Joan Jones, brothers Ben and Brian.

Gary was born in Carmangay, AB on May 23rd 1940 where he spent his grade school years and helped his parents with the local hardware store in Carmangay, White Hardware. Perhaps this was his first calling to a life and career in the hardware/construction business.

Gary started his career at Western Canada Hardware where he spent 27 years. Subsequent moves led him to Crown Zellerbach, then to managing the Beaver Lumber Heritage store and eventually landing at Regal Building Materials where he finished his career as their General Manager.

Well respected throughout his career, he most enjoyed the myriad of friendships that he developed and those that kept in touch throughout his retirement. Working relationships became lifelong friendships for Gary.

Innate to his nature, Gary loved being involved in his kids and grandkids endeavors, family was everything to him. During his life, he enjoyed all sports, with curling and golf at the top of the list. Even a week before his passing he was able to get a round in at Cottonwood G&CC where he and Letty had been members since 2004. Amongst many trips over the years, Arizona was definitely the destination of choice in winter.

The family would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, stories and heartfelt tributes to our husband, father, papa and grandpa. It has truly been amazing.

A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held on Friday November 17th from 2:00 to 4:00 at Willow Park Golf & Country Club (639 Willow Park Drive SE, Calgary).
