Geesche "Kay" Resi Sulek

July 8, 1938 – July 30, 2023
Obituary of Geesche "Kay" Resi Sulek
IN THE CARE OF

South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium

In loving memory of our Mother who passed, at the age of 85, on July 30th, 2023 in Calgary, Alberta Canada. She is survived by her daughters Tessa and Alison, sisters Liesa and Kit, brothers Butch (Diana) and Peter (Bev) and sisters-in-law Ingrid and Ruth. She was a proud Grandmother of 3 and Great-Grandmother of 5.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gertrude and Helmuth and brothers Wally (Ingrid) and Uli (Ruth).

Mom spent her life split between Alberta (many towns and cities) and Vernon, British Columbia. Regardless of where she was, she left her mark with her green thumb, editorial columns (whether printing or writing them) and her assistance. Her joy was spending time with family and friends, and helping any way she could… whether by offering advice, lending a hand, hosting big home cooked dinners or merely rearranging your cupboards while you were at work. Mom couldn’t resist a chance to chat on the phone, or better yet a visit where she could get the chance to feed you. She also could not resist dirt under her nails, a garage sale / bargain, a trip to the casino, a glass of wine or a “schnapps”, a weird new recipe, crossword puzzles and card games, giving you several jars of something she just canned or a chance to talk politics with anyone who was willing. She was one of the toughest, hardest working and most determined women one would ever meet. Always the “put-together” lady (complete with matching necklace, earrings and lipstick), ready to meet each day head-on (after a big healthy breakfast and a mittful of vitamins of course).

She will be placed with our Omi and Opi soon, and a “Celebration of Life” will be planned for the summer of 2024 in Alberta. In lieu of flowers, donations on her behalf to her preferred charities (Canadian War Amps, Stars Air Ambulance, Heart and Stroke Foundation) would be much appreciated.

We would also like to give our condolences to you as well… all those who knew and loved her throughout her life. We know she meant many things to many people on her journey and will be missed.

Sincerely,

Kay’s daughters Tessa and Alison
