Genevieve Brownell Michael

Genevieve Brownell Michael passed away peacefully at Wentworth Manor on Tuesday Aug 31 at the reported age of 29 years. Gen is survived by her son Barrie (Carol) Beaumont, AB; daughter Lynne (Jerome) Jones, Huntington Beach, CA; son Laird (Patty), Riverhurst, SK; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Elmer, sisters Marguerite Lovett, Dorothy Codling, brothers Neil Laing, Ian Laing and parents Donald Laing and Eleanor Brownell.

Gen was born June 3, 1915 in Kerrobert, SK, growing up on her parent’s farm near Coleville, SK. She married Elmer Michael July 15, 1936, living first on their farm near Tramping Lake, then moving to Unity. Gen was involved in Rebekah Lodge, United Church Women, Hospital Auxillary and other community functions. She had a love of music and dancing and participated whenever possible. Gen and Elmer retired to Victoria, BC in 1969. After Elmer’s passing in 1992, she moved to Calgary, AB. She was always an elegant lady who approached things with more dignity than most people think possible. We will miss her smile, wit and sense of humour.
