He is survived by his five children: Natasha Monet (David), Ivan Rapchuk (Chantelle), Daria Armstrong (William), Sarah Rapchuk and Nicholas Rapchuk, along with his ex-wife Janis Rapchuk, as well as his three siblings: Lloyd Rapchuk (Faith), Bernice Gollnick (Lyle) and Phyllis Martsinkiw. He's also survived by five grandchildren: Arum, Sacha and Katrina Rapchuk, and Logan and Brynn Armstrong.
Lyle was born and raised in Saskatoon, and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1968. Lyle worked as a systems analyst in Regina and Saskatoon, before moving to Calgary in 1979 to take a job with Revelstoke building supplies and then Petro-Canada.
Lyle developed dementia, which progressed quickly and aggressively in recent years. He resided in care homes for the last several years of his life.
The family held a private gathering of remembrance, and if friends so desire, requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
