We were away in Sept and just found out yesterday of Gladys, passing, so shocking.  A great lady and neighbor to the Praestegaard's(across the street)  and will miss the  good talk sessions in the summers!  Our thoughts to her family.  Rick&Norma Prestegard, Calgary

To the DeGraff, I am saddened by the news of Mrs. DeGraff's passing. My brother Chris just told me yesterday when he spoke with Shauna. Sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you.

Bill and I were saddened to hear of Gladys´s passing. Gladys and I shared a very special bond, both being Grandmothers to our lovely Meaghan and Georgia. Gladys will be sorely missed by her loving family and all whose lives she touched.

Auntie Gladys,
Thank You for always asking what I'm up to and making time to see me when I came back home to visit. What I would give for one more hour with you at the kitchen table.
  Thank You for welcoming me into your home when I moved to Calgary on my own, for treating me like a grown-up, even though I barely was, and loving me like I was your own. You were more than a second Mom, and the perfect accompaniment to my Mom, creating a healthy balance.
Because of you I stop and smell the roses, know how to make tea the proper way and always add booze to the pumpkin pie. You took me to my first rock concert, the Irish Rovers, and when you fed me cheese and crackers and called it lunch, it was a revelation. 
I will think of you every day when I look at my shamrock plant on the balcony.

I met Gladys when your Dad was involved with CGA, she was a wonderful women and will be deeply missed by all.

We always had such good times during the Eighties when the children were young and growing. Even little Barkley loved going to your house. New Year's Eves were special as we celebrated them together.

The miles between us have meant that we have not shared as much of our lives as we should and I regret that now more than ever. I am so thankful though for the wondeful times we did spend together when I was growing up. Dear Gladys. About the only comfort we can possibly take from your passing is knowing that you and Darryl are finally together again.  Knowing how much you missed him should now bring some peace and comfort to your soul. A long time ago, every weekend all of us teenagers would come by the Degraff house and it was your mom and dad who opened their hearts and home to us.  It allowed us all grow into the people we are today.  Your mom always listened to my silly stories and a part of me always did it to see the smile on her face, I know she loved us and I know she loved who we all became.   Just knowing that she loved and accepted all of us as your friend made me feel very welcome.  She was a very special person and touched my life and many others deeply.   Gladys always saw the great side in all of us and I remember her so fondly when I think back on those times.

Auntie Gladys, I have so many great childhood memories of playing at your house. You always made me feel welcomed and loved.  I'll miss your laugh and warm smile. Big hugs to shauna and kerry.

Thank you Auntie Gladys for the vintage clothes shopping excursions, hill side sketching trips and wee pint of Guinness. You had a particular talent for making a person feel special and for spotting quality material at a glance, all with a twinkle in your eye.
