Gloria passed away suddenly in the State of Arizona on June 6, 2011 at the age of 46 years. Gloria was born in Bogota, Colombia on January 7, 1965. She was the youngest of eight children. Gloria was the best student in her class for many years; everyone was proud of her. She was married the first time at 19 and started a family very young. Paola, Juan and Laura are her three children. Her full-time job as a mom never stopped her from being a successful executive assistant. After much effort, she was hired by BP Exploration Company and worked there for almost ten years. She tried hard to save her marriage but was divorced when her youngest daughter was around four years old. Even though it was a difficult time for her, she never gave up. God always blessed her with wonderful people and one of them was her boss at BP, Don Brilz. He was the person who introduced Gordon into her life. It was like a fairy tale story. Gloria had found the one who was going to make her happy. In 2003 she decided to come to Canada to start a new life with Gord and his sons Nicholas and Jayson. Her children stayed in Colombia until they finished school. She then moved back to Colombia and worked at the Dutch Embassy. Finally in 2005 she returned to Calgary. After a few months she started working at Suncor Energy. They all knew Gloria Rodriguez, thanks to her smile and how she cared about others. She was really happy with her life; her children were with her, and her husband gave her all of the support and love that she needed. Glorita was living and enjoying the life that she deserved. We were blessed to have the best mom, wife and woman in our lives. She is going to inspire many people. Gloria is lovingly remembered by her husband Gordon; daughters Paola and Laura, son Juan and two stepsons Jayson and Nicholas. She is also survived by her mother Betsabe Valero; her sisters Cecilia, Gladys, Elvira, Martha, and Belen; and her brothers Eduardo and Fernando. Gloria was predeceased by her father Jose Roque Rodriguez.
