Grace Walla of Calgary passed away peacefully on Monday, April 4, 2011 after a brief illness. Grace was born June 7, 1915 in North English, Iowa. She graduated from the Iowa State Teachers College and taught school in Iowa before teaching in Venezuela for an American oil company. Grace met her husband, Joseph Walla, in Maracaibo where he worked as a geologist. They were married on December 27, 1950 and returned to Omaha, Nebraska in 1955 before Joe was transferred to Calgary. Grace will be remembered as a very gracious lady, and a kind and loving mother. She is survived by her daughter Mary Jo (Joseph Dallaire) and Susan (Blair Smith). A Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Service on Monday April 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. both at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 5340 – 4 Street S.W. Calgary.
