Helen Jean Leadley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen J. Leadley of Calgary. Helen passed away suddenly on August 31st, 2020, the day of her 45th wedding anniversary.

Helen was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on April 8th 1938, daughter of the late Elizabeth (Edmonds) and Horace Humphreys.

Helen leaves behind her loving husband Edward Leadley with whom she shared a large family, predeceased by her daughter Brenda and son Arthur and survived by Joyce (Gerry), Kim, Joanne (Kevin), Cherie (Wade), Beth, Debbie (Casey), Darlene and Duncan (Donna); as well as 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Helen is also survived by her sister Letitia, brothers Gordon (Linda), Murray (Helen), and Frank (Glenda). She was predeceased by sister Joyce, and brothers Art, Arnold and Lloyd.

Helen and Ed moved to Calgary in 1980, they drove all the way from Halifax, Helen loved to share the story of the adventure that they shared to start their life in Calgary. They were eventually joined by most of their children. Helen spent many years working in retail and devoted much of her time working with her local MP’s to improve the Justice System.

Helen loved to cook and invite everyone over for big family dinners, she will never be forgotten for her turkey and boiled dinners and always bringing the family together. Helen was kind hearted and an extremely generous women, who would do anything for anyone and she will be greatly missed by many people.

Her family will be holding a private celebration of life, flowers may be ordered through the funeral homes florist, Enchanted Florist 403-255-5999.

Nan, I am not to sure what all to say but ill start with saying thank you, thank you for excepting me, thank you for treating me like I was your own grand child and thank you for my wedding card! I love you and you are and were such a bright light in so many peoples life and mine was one. Thank you for making mom so she could love me the way she does I am sure her heart came from you. Love you nan until we meet again i hope you are hugging Brenda and all your loved ones tight and flying like the bird you wished you were xoxox ash
