I met Helen at Knox United Church soon after my family moved here in 1996. She was very welcoming to John & me & she made us feel as though we belonged at Knox & in Calgary.

Later, when I began to volunteer in the church office, she introduced me to her work in the church archives & allowed me to edit some of her reminiscences of Knox’s past.

I was very ill in 2011, & Helen was a big part of my recovery, beginning with a short note she sent me when I was out of hospital.

I loved her wittiness, her sardonic sense of humour, her sense & sensibility, and her unwavering ability to face facts, however uncomfortable to herself & others.

It was an honour to know her.

Cindy and I send our sincere condolences to Jim, Pat and their families. We think back fondly to when they all came to our wedding reception in Okotoks; it was so nice to see everyone there.

Helen had an important part in the making of the history of the Rosedale Community book. Her story “Helen Wright Reynolds’ Story: Growing up in Rosedale: The years 1932-1939 is in Rosedale Stories: A Community Remembers” and can be found on the community’s website. The book would not have been the same without her support.

Her work as the Archivist at Knox United Church is also remembered and appreciated.

My heartfelt condolences to all of you, Pat. I clearly remember running in to your mother, smartly dressed as always, in the Plus 15 during our time at Dome, as well a beautiful dinner she served me at her home. My love and compassion to you all at this time.
