Ian Albert Lloyd Watmough

September 16, 2004September 7, 2020

It is with tremendous sorrow that we announce the passing of Ian Albert Lloyd Watmough. He passed away, surrounded by family, at the age of 15 on September 7, 2020 after a courageous, year-long battle with cancer.

From the time he was old enough to see wheels on anything, Ian loved cars and everything about them. He was a huge fan and dedicated Forza Horizon Motorsport video game player, often spending every moment of his allotted screen time perfecting his moves. He loved his mountain bike and enjoyed family bike rides, often through Fish Creek Park. Ian enjoyed his time at Henry Wise Wood High School and had many wonderful teachers and friends.

Ian faced his cancer with a resilience and fortitude that inspired all who knew his journey. Throughout his difficult year of treatments, Ian enjoyed hanging out with his brother and best friend, Cameron. Family was so important to Ian and during his treatment his biggest concern was how his cancer was impacting Cameron and his parents.

Ian is survived by his parents Tracey and Spencer O’Bray and James and Becky Watmough; his brother Cameron; stepbrother Austyn; grandparents Bert Van de Vyvere, Kerry and Diane O’Bray, Jim and Val Shields, and maternal great-grandmother, Jean Smyrl. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Peggy Van de Vyvere and paternal grandparents Lloyd and Margaret Watmough. Ian will be greatly missed by his aunts and uncles, Lisa and Chris Green, Carolynn Van de Vyvere and Richard Maruk, Kris and Lisa Sutherland, Brian and Roxy Watmough, Donna Watmough, Katrina and Duncan Miller, Victoria and Joel Sandberg, and Pam and Jerry Waldern, as well as his many cousins (Norah, Adam, Holly, Isabella, Eli, Caitlin, Makaelyn, Benson, Bailey, Harrison, Cole, Wesley, Justin and Marcus).

The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Rotary Flames House for their care and compassion during Ian’s last days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 200 Cranston Road SE Calgary on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked guests to donate to Make A Wish Canada or Kids Cancer Care.
