March 26, 1925 – January 5, 2023
The family of Irene Boris are sad to announce Irene’s passing at St. Teresa Place Covenant Care on Thursday, January 5, 2023 in Calgary at the age of 97 years. Irene was born near Cochrane in Glenbow, Alberta. After her father’s death in Penhold, the family relocated to Calgary. After completing high school, Irene continued on to graduate from the Calgary General Hospital School of Nursing in 1947 as a registered nurse. Through the years, her nursing days took her to Swift Current, Empress, and the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, where she worked until she retired. During her working career, and with her faith guiding her, she spent ten years as a missionary in Africa; which she found both challenging and rewarding. Irene was devoted to her faith, which was a huge part of her life. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Kananaskis Country, and the mountains near Banff. Irene will be missed by her sister Mary Smith, nieces and nephews Andrea (Tom) Hrusecky, Brian (Valerie) Graham, Randy (Shelly) Graham, Vern (Cheri McInnis) Graham. Great nieces and nephews Nicholas (Karli) Hrusecky, Breanne Graham, Ileah (Nathan) Hill, Curtis (Janice) Graham, Kristen (Byron) Ismond, Kathleen Graham, and families.
