Irene was born in White Fox, Saskatchewan n February 21, 1937, and moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1943 where she attended St. Mary’s Girls School. She married Harry in September 1959 in Calgary, Alberta. Prior to her retirement she worked at SAIT and was particularly proud of her children. Irene loved and valued her family and grandchildren. She loved knitting, playing cards, and family gatherings. She loved watching her children and grandchildren participating in various activities and sporting events. Irene was particularly fond of “helping” referees, umpires, and officials. Her favorite sayings were “you’re missing a pretty good game out there”, “Happy Birthday Batter”, “Way to go Stripes”, and “You’re robbing the kids”. She spent the past few years splitting her time in Creston, BC and Bonners Ferry, Idaho enjoying her new American friends, playing cards, and feeding the “odd” gambling machine. Always quick to tell you the daily winnings but somehow never the daily losses. She was, and is, extremely loved.
Besides her loving husband Harry, Irene is survived by her sister Dolores (Joe); brother Lyle (Shirley); her son Raymond (Susan); two daughters Susan (Wade), and Carol (Peri); six grandchildren Katelyn, Brett, Ty, Kirstin, Corey, and Zachary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Irene was predeceased by her father Charles LaDuke; her mother Wanda LaDuke; brother Vernon LaDuke; and son Norman Corkey.
