Ivy Dorothy Illingworth

October 25, 1925 - March 9, 2011

Ivy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Ivy was born in Melbourne, Australia; grew up and was trained as a Registered Nurse in Scotland, married Arthur Illingworth in 1944 and together they immigrated to Canada in 1952 with their son Ian. Ivy was a nurse at the Calgary General Hospital and later she worked in a number of nursing homes in Calgary and she retired from the Bethany Care Centre in 1988. She was predeceased by her husband (Art) in 2003 and her sister (Marjorie Morrison) in 2005. Ivy is survived by two sons: Barry (Betty) of Chestermere and Ian Illingworth (Kathleen) of Leduc; three grandchildren Erin (Rob) Dickson, Brad Illingworth (Amanda Safron), and John Illingworth; four great grandchildren: MacKenzie, Josh and Kyler Dickson and Ryden Safron; brother in law Don Morrison; nieces Marilyn (Brian) Heffernan, Petie (Pat) Barry, nephews Brian Morrison (Jacquie) and Alan Morrison and their families. Ivy is also lovingly remembered by Carol Illingworth, Wendy, Kim and Michelle Babb, and special friends Rose Chura, Barb and Ray Fisher and Rhonda Walsh and by her many relatives in England. At the request of Ivy there will be no service or formal memorial. Ivy’s final resting place will be at Queen’s Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Ivy's honor to your charity of choice. The family would like to extend their special thanks to the Chinook Hospice for their excellent care and support over the past three months.
