It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Shave on April 15th, 2025. Jack was born in Oxbow, SK on April 19th, 1931, and grew up in Yorkton, SK. He moved to Moose Jaw, SK at the age of 16 to play Junior hockey. He turned pro in 1950, playing for the Chicago Blackhawks farm team in Milwaukee, WI. Following the shutdown of the U.S. league, he finished his hockey career playing for Eddie Shore and the Springfield Indians.
In 1952 he returned to Yorkton and married his high school sweetheart, Beryl. Jack joined British American Oil in 1953, starting a 36-year career with the Oil industry. His success propelled him through a multitude of management positions across BA Oil, Gulf & Petro Canada. During this time, Jack and Beryl raised their two sons and found themselves living in a few different cities, ultimately moving to Calgary, AB where he finished his career, retiring from the Oil industry in 1989.
An avid golfer, Jack then joined the AB Golf Association, serving as Director & Rules Official for 11 years. He also served on the original board at Bearspaw Country Club.
Jack had a priceless sense of humor and a knack for making friends. As many could attest, if you made friends with Jack, you made a friend for life. We’ll all cherish his quick wit and the laughs he shared with us.
Jack is survived by his sons Larry (daughter- in-law Mary) and Bradley, grandson Christopher (wife Robyn), and great granddaughter, Charlotte.
His wish was to be cremated, with a private family graveside service to be held at a later date.
