January 30, 1923July 20, 2011

ADAMSON, James Haydn January 30, 1923 – July 20, 2011 Beloved husband of Madeline passed in his sleep on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. He is separated from his wife of sixty-two years and will rest in God's grace. Forever loved and missed by his children - Ken, Lynn and Kevin; his grandchildren Salina (Sally), Cayley and Dustin; great grandchildren, Lane and Morgan and brother's Trevor (Mary) and Dixon (Mona) and extended family.

“Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on the snow. I am the sunlight that ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there: I did not die.”

A Memorial Service honouring James’ legacy of love, strength and support to his family will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6. Madeline and Family,

I am very sorry I missed Jim's service. We were just back from vacation that day and I only heard about it a hour before it began. I have many great memoeries of Jim, and his good humour, as he caught me cutting through your yard. I will always remember him working on cars in your garage with his boys. He always seemed to enjoy the moment of life he was in. I will always remember the great smile on his face when the two of you came by for a Christmas drink at our house. You were great neighbours and you both created a great environment to grow up in, for more than just your own family. He will be missed by many. Trust that you will see him again.

Dear Madeline, Although I never did meet Jim, I know how happy you were together through your letters to me. Peter and I send you our most heartfelt sympathy and we know your wonderful memories of your past adventures together from over sixty years ago up to these last months will bring you much comfort. Know that I will be thinking of you and how much you meant to me so many years ago in Powell River.

Some people make the world a better place and he was certainly in that category. I remember him as a wonderful man with an infectious smile and a kind heart.

My heart goes out to the family. Hopefully their memories of a great man will sustain them.

Madelaine, I was very sorry to hear about Jim from my mother. I have strong memories of him joking with me when I was little, as I'm sure my brothers and sister do as well. He was always fun to be around, and always had a smile on his face. Much love, Naoibh O'Connor [Ann's daughter in Vancouver].
