James began his career in the Aberdeenshire Forestry Commission in Scotland. In 1945, he received his Army call up and served 2 years 9 months in Italy. He was very proud of his military service and would often tell stories of his training at Ft. George.
He would later marry Margaret in 1954 and together moved to Canada in 1957.
James would always express pride in his family, especially his grandson Sterling.
James is survived by his wife Margaret, son Calum (Jennifer Davidson) and grandson Sterling Davidson Center. He is predeceased by James and Anne Center and his sister Mary Gabriel.
