Murray was born to Arthur and Ida Ross on March 4, 1918, on their farm near Antler, SK and was the third of ten children. On May 26, 1941, Murray and Helen (Dawson), of Guernsey, SK, were married at Humboldt, SK. During World War II they lived in various places in B.C., Ontario, and Saskatchewan until Murray was sent overseas. Upon his return, they made their home on a farm near Antler where they raised their own family, and became parents to several others. They were engaged in various agricultural businesses until Helen passed away on November 13, 1987. On December 2, 1989, Murray married Jean Murdoch of Virden, MB. After a few more years in the Antler area, Murray retired and they moved to Coaldale, AB. They enjoyed several years of traveling and hobbies until Jean became ill and required medical assistance. Consequently, they moved to Calgary in 2005 and settled into the Newport Harbour Care Facility where Murray looked after Jean until she passed away on May 31, 2011.
