March 4, 1941 – February 13, 2012
Our beloved Mummy, Nanny, Sister, Auntie, and Friend went peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday February 13, 2012 at the age of 70 years, and while listening to the 23rd Psalm. She will be forever loved and missed by her children Juliet DeRose, son-in-law Carmine, and their children Matteo, Gabriella and Cristianno of Calgary, as well as her son Daniel, and his children Shelby, Brandon and Ava of High River. She is also survived by her twin sister Joan Smith, brother-in-law Richard and their family of Kent, England, her younger sister Christine Belcourt, brother-in-law Chris, and their family of New South Wales, Australia, and her brother-in-law Ken Boyle, and his family, also of Kent, England. Waiting to greet Jean in Heaven were her mother Noreen, father John, and older sister Margaret. Jean was born in Bombay (Mumbai), India and immigrated to England with her father and sisters on May 9, 1956. She married exactly 14 years later on May 9, 1970, and welcomed a daughter in 1971, and a son in 1977. The family immigrated to Canada in 1982 where they settled in the beautiful city of Calgary. Jean held various jobs through the years, but the centre of her universe was her family, God and her church. Despite a life of health problems, and personal hardships, she always had an unwavering faith in Jesus, and the promise found in John 3:16. This faith was an inspiration to her family and friends, and it will continue to be long after her passing. We are confident in the fact that Jean now dwells amongst the glorious majesty of Our Lord and Saviour, and His angels. This knowledge gives us strength, and comfort during this difficult time. Jean’s life was celebrated on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at her home church; Crossroads Community Church 912 – 19 Street N.E., Calgary. Visitation commenced at noon, with a Funeral Service following at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Doug Schroeder, and the Revered John Estabrooks officiating. Jean’s body was laid to rest at Queen’s Park Cemetery 3219 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary. We wish to give our deepest gratitude to those at the Peter Lougheed Centre who helped care for Jean so tenderly during her hospitalization. We very much appreciate your hard work and dedication in caring for those who are most in need. May God Richly Bless You All!
