He leaves behind his wife Doda Andersson and his daughter Stina Kingma, his father Wijtze Joe Kingma, and his niece and nephew along with their children. Jo was predeceased by his mother Jannie Kingma de Bruin and his sister Grietje “Grace” Trijntje Kingma.
The Kingma family immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands in 1970.
Jo graduated from James Fowler High School and furthered his education at Mount Royal College. He became a successful stockbroker before retiring and becoming involved in the oil industry and a variety of business ventures.
Jo’s world-travelling began in his late teens with Euro Rail. He eventually visited every continent in which some of his adventures included: riding camels in Egypt; attending the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa; renting a sailboat in Hawaii; buying a limousine in Nevada and driving it to Calgary; flying Emirates first class; conducting business in Chile, Yemen, and Cambodia; and driving ATVs and skiing across Canada and Austria with his friends and extended family.
He will be remembered as a fun-loving, brilliant, and charismatic husband, Dad, Ome Joop, and friend.
