Alvin Campbell was born to Delia (nee Quast) and Louis Campbell on October 28, 1940 in Hanna, Alberta. He passed away on February 19, 2014 at the Southwood Care Centre in Calgary. Alvin had a unique personality and enjoyed people, animals and music, especially rock and roll and blues. He achieved a Masters Degree with honors in radio and television productions and for a time worked for Channel 2 in Calgary.
He then turned his hand to other fields and ended his career as the advertising and public relations manager for Ferguson Supply Ltd. The magazine he published for the firm won awards in the industry. Alvin doted on his nieces. One of the girls asked her mother, “What is a great uncle?” Her mother told her that a certain person was her great uncle and her response was, “He’s not a GREAT Uncle. Unk is a GREAT UNCLE.” and he was.
Alvin loved and cared for his mother. They shared a very special relationship until her passing. He was a great son.
Alvin is survived by his father Louis (L.A.) Campbell, his sister Myrna and her husband Rick Balbi, his niece Louisa Balbi, and his niece and nephew Delia and Mike Wieser plus special cousins and family friends. A sincere thanks goes out to Dr. Melling, Dr. Watson and to the staff at Southwood Care Centre in the Bonavista and Parkland wings. He so enjoyed living at Southwood.
There will be a Memorial Luncheon at the Carriage House Inn (9030 Macleod Trail South) on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. in the Desert Palms Room. Friends and family are invited and asked to bring pictures or a special story about Alvin.
