Sincere condolences to Jolane’s family.  Jolane was a special lady and was such a wonderful person to work with at the University of Calgary.  She was always so cheerful and would always be happy to help everyone.  My husband and I enjoyed our visits to Steve and Jolane’s home where food was always abundant.  She was so proud of her grandsons and they were always in our conversations.  Such great memories will not be forgotten.  Thoughts and prayers to the family.                   Dorothy Robertson

Our Families go back a long way from before we were all born. Your Dad & my Mom went to school together. Your Mom gave my Mom special recipes. Then there was the “Bridge Group” with four special couples for over 40 years. Your Mom and I always had such good visits with coffee. She was/is a special Lady. Norm & I will be thinking of you today, so very sorry we can’t be there in person. Love, JoAnn  & Norm 

Jolane was always very pleasant to work with at the University.  She was such a proud grandmother and will be missed by all of her family.  Please accept my condolences.

My life long memories of Auntie Jolane will always be what an amazing and talented culinary artist she was.  When all of the nieces of the Berze family got married, Auntie Jolane made numerous Hungarian Torte's for all the wedding festitivies and they were the most delicious torte's ever made! Whenever visiting their home in Calgary we were always greeted with lots of Love and Happiness and new and delicious foods.  We will miss you Auntie Jolane but are Happy that you are reunited with our loved ones that have gone before.

Dear Brenda, Elaine and families,

How sorry I am for the loss of your beautiful mother and my surrogate mom.

Never could I have known when I answered Marlies’ call to visit Steve and Jolane for SM Pastoral Care that God was gifting me with this incredible relationship and deep friendship with Jolane that would last and be so impactful in my life, and our families. God knew that as my mother had gone Home to heaven I would need a woman like her to fill the hole. Jolane touched my heart right from our first meeting. Always so incredibly grateful for every little thing (which I see she has passed on to both of you). So generous with her time and although feisty she was so gentle too. Kind, compassionate, loving, faith-filled. How could I not love this beautiful woman. It was her warmth, vitality, genuineness, her wisdom that compelled me to invite her into our home and family. We wanted her to be a part of our celebrations - anniversaries, graduations, birthdays … what beautiful memories. She touched every one of us.

She also inspired me - to exercise, to garden, to keep going even when I was tired, to complain less (for as much arthritic pain as she had she hardly ever complained), to bake, to be grateful, to love lots. 

She loved her family! You all were a huge part of our visits as she would share what you were doing, how Brenda’s health was, her calls from Jason and visits with Jeffrey, your family events that she cherished, her sisters stories. You all were her heart, her life’s gift, her focus. She was so proud of each of you and felt so blessed to be your mother and grandmother. 

We laughed, we cried, we prayed, we shared our life stories, we shared our struggles and our good times, we shared Jesus!

Oh how I will miss my dear friend, Jolane. 
Thank you for sharing your parents with our family. 
May God give you comfort and peace.

Our deepest condolences to your family.  Your mother was such a big part of my grandparents (Bill & Ann Eremko) lives, both of your parents being such dear friends to them.  I have fond memories of coming to Calgary for visits as a child, and witnessing their bond of friendship that carried through the years.   Your mother always made those around her feel like family, and I felt like she was a part of mine.  We will remember her always...Christine, Jamie, William & Laura Rutledge

I'm so sorry for your loss. Auntie Jo was such an amazing person. We always has SO much fun with her and she was such a bright and joyous person. She will truly be missed.

To Jolane’s family my deepest condolences and prayers! Your mother was very loving and whenever I visited my sister Pam,  she treated me as one of her own also and I felt very loved and missed my mother even more but what a gift she was to my sister and what a wonderful friendship they shared. It is a blessing to find such beautiful people in the world that can love the way your mother did!

We are all very sad to hear that we have lost such a wonderful person who always made us feel so welcome and loved. We are wishing the family strength and emotional healing in remembering a life as deep and full as Jolane's was. Anyone who knew her will have many good memories like ours. Heaven is welcoming an angel from Earth and we are all lucky to have her watching over us.

Always remember staying at Auntie Jolane,s to wait for the Calgary stampede to start. I remember her and uncle Steve coming into the bedroom one time saying the parade is cancelled it is snowing. Always joking around those two love you both until we see you again.

She was such a big part of our family through the years. Our thoughts are with you all.
