With his family by his side, Joe peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2013 at the age of 76. Joe is survived by his wife Gayle, his two daughters Arlette Watwood (Darcy) and Lisa Weigel and two cherished grandsons Mitchell and Ethan. He is also survived by three sisters, Katie, Scena and Bernadette. Joe will forever be remembered as an amazing husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, cousin, and loyal friend.
Joe always had a smile on his face and was willing to lend a hand to anyone that was in need of it, he was so generous with his time. He was quick witted and always had a joke or story to tell you…he loved to tease everyone. Joe was the epitome of a hard work ethic. He always said he would never retire and he was true to his word. He worked up until two weeks before he passed!
Family was the most important thing to Joe and he enjoyed spending time with his large extended family… he had 8 brothers and sisters and was a favourite uncle to 52 nieces and nephews and their families. Close behind family was his commitment to the Masonic brotherhood and the associated Shriners organization. Joe committed much of his time and energy to these organizations and from it grew a wonderful network of close friends for him and his wife Gayle.
We would like to acknowledge the staff of the South Campus Hospital, especially Chelsea in HR, Meila and Justine on Unit 68 for their exceptional care and kindness to Joe and our family.
