Julie was born May 25, 1939, in Scout Lake, Saskatchewan to parents Louis Alfred Beauregard and Jeannette Marie (Chrétien) Beauregard. In 1957, she received her high school diploma from Couvent Jésus Marie in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. After graduating from the Regina Grey Nuns School of Nursing in 1960, she married Roderick (Keith) McMillan in St. Victor, Saskatchewan in 1962. While Keith studied and worked as a veterinarian, Julie continued to work as a nurse for many years.
Prior to settling in Edmonton, Alberta, Julie and Keith frequently moved around Saskatchewan and Alberta for Keith’s work. Their travelling also extended beyond Canada’s borders; they explored many different countries together, from Great Britain to Guyana. Though Keith preceded Julie in death on June 2, 2006, she continued to travel and visited 39 countries, 25 US states, and all Canadian provinces and territories but Nunavut over her lifetime.
In addition to being an avid traveller, Julie was an active member of her community for most of her life. The couple were greatly involved in Marriage Encounter for many years, and Julie often participated in the Red Hat Society and her adult community on Lake Beaumaris. She was also a dedicated member of the church and helped out with a myriad of parish tasks when need arose. Marriage Prep and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul were just a couple of the many church programs she regularly volunteered for. Wherever Julie went, she created meaningful relationships and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Julie is survived by her four siblings, Maurice Beauregard, Denise Zubick, Gerard Beauregard and Johanne Beauregard; four children, Melissa (Sean) Gross, Gisele (Eric) Russell, Nicole (Kyle) McMillan and Stuart (Jackie) McMillan; four granddaughters, Alexandra Gross, Lauren Gross, Taylor Russell and Zoe Russell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Visitation will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church, (17511 112 Street NW, Edmonton, AB, T5X 5X9), on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. A livestream of the service will also be available to those who cannot attend in person on the parish’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stcharlesyeg).
