Karen was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on December 10th, 1961. She moved to Calgary in 1974. Karen was smart, hardworking, funny, and loved fishing and camping with her husband Al. Karen loved her Husband, her two children and stepchildren very much, as well as her grandchildren whom she adored. She was an incredible mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend.
Her and her husband Al married on July 9th, 2011 and spent many of their fondest memories on road trip adventures, camping, fishing in their boat, and enjoying meals and good times with their friends and family.
Karen worked for General Electric as an account manager for over 25 years. She went on to further her position at a few other companies and was last employed at Summit Fleet. She always demonstrated an unwavering work ethic and commitment to her career which was a skill she possessed early in life. She was always dedicated to her school work and studies. Karen’s hard work and drive were undoubtedly skills that she passed on to her children.
Karen will be most remembered for her sense of humour and fun loving spirit, her laugh, her open heart, and her kind and loving nature.
Besides her loving husband, Karen is survived by her daughter Vanessa (David Briere), step daughter Angela, step son Will, and her grandchildren. Karen is also survived by her sister Judy Mosur, brothers Ken Olson, David Olson, Donald Olson and Richard Hall. She is survived by her step mother Matilda Olson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Karen is predeceased by her father Erwin Olson, mother Opal Olson, sister Ruby Olson and beloved son Michael Welychka.
