Karen is survived by her husband Ralph; her children Cathy (Estranged Husband Leo), Lesley (Stacy), Grandson Kylan (the light of her eyes), along with many nephews, nieces and friends.
Karen was born June 25, 1941, to her loving parents Leslie and Alma Griffth and had a wonderful brother Elmer who she loved to watch playing hockey.
At the age of fifteen, her family moved away from Quebec and found a home in Hanna, Alberta before moving to their family home in Calgary, where she met the boy next door who she eventually married on May 4, 1968 (and to believe they never became Star Wars fans!) Karen became a nurse and after many years of nursing in Olds she decided to change her career path and become an office manger for International Harvester, then a stay at home wife and mother, one of the hardest jobs of all. Karen returned to the work force as a denturist assistant with Lee Fehr dentures. She had a long career with the Calgary Stampede in their ticket department and finally retired.
Karen loved her family fiercely and always exuded kindness and compassion to all those she met. She adored her husband, was so proud of her daughter Cathy, had full admiration for her daughter Lesley and appreciated her son-in-law’s Stacy and Leo. The bond she had with her grandson Kylan, who called her Nana, was unbreakable and so infectious. She was an incredible woman and will be missed by everyone she knew.
A Celebration of Karen’s life is being held at South Calgary Funeral Centre on Saturday, February 24 at 1:00 p.m. A livestream will be available for those who cannot attend in person by following the link: https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/index.php?data=MTcwODU3NjgwMTI5Njg3OSZvbmVyb29tLWFkbWluJmNvcHlfbGluaw
