Karen was predeceased by her husband, Bill Zawalykut
Growing up, Karen lived in Hussar, Chilliwack, and Vulcan. After moving to Calgary, she met Bill -- whom she'd later go on to marry and start a family with in 1965. Her family and especially her children gave her much joy in life. Karen spent much of her working life as an administrator at the Foothills Hospital, where she was known for her cheerful disposition and beautiful handmade earrings.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who loved family gatherings, ocean sounds and sunsets. Karen was talented at crafts - especially beading; she was an avid angel collector, and gave amazing hugs. She enjoyed crafting, jokes and puns, and dining with her friends.
Inurnment will be a private family ceremony held at a later date.
