Surrounded by family and embraced in love, Kelly left this world on Monday, May 22 after a courageous battle with breast cancer at the age of 30 years. Kelly was born in Winnipeg on September 11, 1986. The youngest of three girls, Kelly was the cherished baby of the family. She was a real character and active toddler who brought joy and laughter to everyone. As a child, she looked up to her older sisters Rachel and Renee; they would spend countless hours immersed in make-believe and adventures. She also enjoyed reading, swimming, soccer, bike riding, crafting, and spending time with her family at the cabin. Always ready to lighten the mood, deflate an argument, or just be plain silly - her personality was infectious. Kelly had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed caring for and playing with them. She moved with her family to Calgary the summer of 1997, at the age of ten. Although she could be quite shy and reserved, she quickly made new friends and enjoyed playing the flute and other instruments in the school band. Out of her love for children and her compassionate nature, Kelly chose a nursing career in Labour and Delivery. In order to achieve her goal, she dedicated herself and worked extra hard on her studies. She graduated from Mount Royal University in 2011 and began her career as a Registered Nurse at the Peter Lougheed Centre. Kelly made a significant impact on her colleagues and patients as a kind and professional nurse. She took pride in her mentorship of nursing students and new staff. Her patience and gentle nature made her a well-received instructor and she was considering further pursuing this aspect of her career. Kelly met the love of her life, Dwayne, in Junior High School. They quickly became inseparable and developed a beautiful relationship that many admired. They shared a rare kind of love, rooted in mutual respect and deep friendship. Kelly’s face lit up whenever she looked at Dwayne. They married on July 6, 2013 in Banff. For all those who attended, the love between them was obvious – their smiles radiant in every captured moment. Her thoughtfulness showed in the way she designed and carefully crafted each detail of the wedding. She created beautiful personal touches to the day and made gifts to show her gratitude for all those who gave their support. Kelly said that she felt like a princess, and always spoke of her wedding day as one of the most special moments in her life. The happy couple began to build their lives together in Airdrie, and enjoyed camping, gardening, board games and family trips. Dwayne gave Kelly the greatest gifts of her life: true love and three beautiful children. Kelly loved children and always wanted to be a mom. When she learned she was going to become a mother, she couldn’t wait to share the news. Dwayne and Kelly welcomed their first born, a son, Eric Peter on February 27, 2015. Kelly was an amazing mother who loved to play, read, and sing to Eric. She lovingly called Eric her ‘sweet boy’. Last fall, she was beyond ecstatic to find out that she and Dwayne’s family would grow with the arrival of their twins. Their beautiful girls, Lauren Annabelle and Leah Madelynn, arrived on March 18 of this year. Kelly’s dream was to raise her children and grow old with Dwayne. During Kelly’s battle with cancer, she inspired those around her with her ability to cope with pain, maintain focus on her family, and remain positive. She expressed her desire to educate people on the subtle symptoms and the potential progression of the disease. She also wanted others to know that breast cancer can affect women in their youth and during pregnancy or postpartum. With regret, the aggressive nature of her particular diagnosis prevented Kelly from spreading the message herself. She would be honoured if her story continued to raise awareness and help promote early detection of breast cancer. Kelly is lovingly remembered and forever in the hearts of her husband Dwayne, two-year-old son Eric, two-month-old daughters Lauren and Leah, her parents Peter and Lousia Wiebe, sister Rachel and her husband Cory Orbanski (nieces Kira and Kristen), sister Renee Wright, grandmother Martha Marko, in-laws Glenn and Monica Owchar, brother in-law Trevor and his wife Cynthia (niece Jessica, nephews Bailey and Brayden), brother in-law Andrew and his girlfriend Annika, and dearest friends Jasmine and David Buchanan. A Celebration of Life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cementary) on Tuesday May 30 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Karen Holmes officiating. Loved you yesterday, love you still. Always have, always will.

I can't begin to express my shock and sadness at the untimely passing of Kelly. My sincere condolences go out to Kelly's parents and family, Dwayne and his family, the dear sweet children and all the friends who will miss Kelly so much. I learned of Kelly's strength, in the face of her diagnosis, through my son Shawn and the Go Fund Me page. I read Kelly's Blog. She eloquently described her journey and feelings with such clarity that all I could do was cry. May God bless you and be with you as you travel this difficult road. It won't be easy but I know Dwayne can do it with the support of God, family and friends. I will be praying for all of you. Donna Arseniuk (Stettler, Alberta)
