It is with great sadness the family of Koney Zigoro announces his sudden passing at his home in Calgary, AB on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the age of 47 years. Koney was the second of six siblings. He finished his college education and worked a few years before moving to England in 1992. In 1995, Koney joined his sister Vida in Canada. Koney was a hardwording man with a passion for cooking. He was an avid soccer player and coach. He loved people and was always surrounded by friends. Koney is lovingly remembered by his spouse, Kate John-Lewis. He is also survived by his children, Alex Okpoti, Randy Okpoti, Racheal Okpoti and Richie Okpoti; siblings, Vida, Tetteh, Osa and Margaret. Koney was predeceased by parents Alexander Ashong and Vivian Ashong. Those wishing to pay their respects did so at a visitation held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, October 15, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
