OBITUARY

Ksenia Lee Meeder (Thomas)

December 21, 1964June 13, 2020

Ksenia was born in Calgary on December 21, 1964 and passed away unexpectedly in Calgary at the age of 55 years.

Ksenia grew up in Acadia and graduated from Lord Beaverbrook High School in 1982. She moved to Nashville, TN in 1995 with her first husband Brian Thomas and their three children. In what turned out to be the last year of Ksenia’s life, she returned to Calgary and serendipitously bought her childhood home in Acadia.

Ksenia was an avid and accomplished seamstress, gardener, and cook. She was also a third degree blackbelt in Taekwondo and won many awards and tournaments. She was very active, enjoyed the outdoors and you could often find her backpacking, mountaineering, or rock/ice climbing. Her favourite activities took her around the world -- with her second husband, Dr. John Romersa -- and they were always planning their next adventure. She was especially proud of when they travelled to Nepal on their mountaineering expeditions.

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her three children, Brianne (Brad), Gretchen, and Graham. She is also survived by her parents, Joe (Gloria) Meeder and Julia Meeder; her only sister, Shanta (Wayne), nephew Cory and niece Kyla. She will forever hold a special place in her Uncle Andrew’s heart. She also leaves her dog Thunder, the father of her children Brian, and many other family members and friends across multiple countries.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, but due to ongoing Covid restrictions, attendees will be asked to register in advance. Please email klmcelebrationoflife@gmail.com if you wish to be notified of the date and place. To honour Ksenia, please consider a donation in her name to a charity that she supported, the Calgary Drop-In Centre. You can donate at www.calgarydropin.ca/donate.

Rest in sweet lasting peace, Ksenia. You may be gone but you’ll never be forgotten.

I am at a loss💔 I have so many memories of our times together, I don’t even know where I’d start. I miss you my dear friend. I Know you are surrounded by the peace and serenity you so deserved, but it seemed to be just out of reach here.
I will never forget your words of wisdom “don’t jump in the shower, you might fall” 😂💞
And now I say : put down the scissors, but this time I won’t be right there, but we will meet again my friend ♥️🤟♥️

Thank you for being my 'Crazy-Auntie-Mom' when I needed it the most. Forever grateful for when you opened your home in Nashville to me, and let me stay with you and Fatty for an extended time. I cherish not only those dinners and conversations together, but our high-kick contests, too.

Sending my love, always.

Ksenia and I lived next door to each other growing up. So many memories to share... once I learned from my parents that she had moved back to her childhood home I was looking forward to re-connecting with her.
Ksenia was very generous with my parents, always bringing over offerings and checking in with them about what she was doing around her home and knowing that I live out of province I truly appreciated that she cared. I am saddened by her passing but know she is free from pain and sorrow.
My condolences to her families.

My condolences to those who knew Ksenia, especially family. I knew her most when we were growing up and when she lived with my Auntie Anita's family during our teen years. I always remember laughing a lot at family get-togethers with the Meeders and my cousins.

I felt Ksenia was a true visionary. She was going through a futuristic fashion phase in the 80's and told me which colours were the greatest to wear. She also influenced my makeup choices lol. Though I haven't seen her for years, she is part of my heart. She made the world a spicier place for sure. I send love to all who loved her. Love from Lisa.
