Kyriakos "Kirk" Thymaras

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Kirk. A man who lived a life full of perseverance and love. Kirk had a generous spirit and gave so much of himself to others without expecting anything in return except love and friendship.

Born in Spetses, Greece, he survived the war. He served in the military police and then rose to chief engineer in the merchant marine.

Upon a visit to Calgary he met the love of his life and the decision to settle on land was made. Together with Elizabeth he built a successful business and loving family. Kirk enjoyed his Friday boy’s night with his devoted sons. He later gave back serving tirelessly as the President of Calgary’s Greek community.

He always enjoyed family holidays and his annual trip to Spetses. Nothing gave him more joy than time with his grandchildren, Leonidas Kyriakos, and Eleftheria.

A Prayer Service will be held Monday, December 5, 2022 at 7:00 PM at ST. DEMETRIOS GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH (1 Tamarac Crescent SW, Calgary, AB). A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 1:00 PM with interment to follow at QUEEN’S PARK CEMETERY (3219 4th Street NW, Calgary AB).

He will always be remembered and loved. We cherish the lessons and wonderful memories with Kirk.
