

Lan Yin Yan Too Sang, known to many as Madame Andre, Mama Sylvio, or Popo was born in Mei Xian, China on September 22, 1929. She was married at the age of 18 and settled to the island of Mauritius in 1947 where she raised her 8 children. In 1966 she was widowed at the young age of 39. After 35 years of running a business in Mauritius in 1982, at the age of 53, she moved to Montreal for 2 years to stay with her daughters Margaret and Marianne. She then decided to move to Calgary to stay with her son Sylvio and has been here until her sudden passing. She worked for a number of years as a food preparer and a cook in downtown Calgary. She was predeceased by her daughter Margaret in 2002. She is lovingly remembered by her 7 remaining children, Sydney (Marianne), Mary (John), Eileen (Ah-Lit), Marianne (Tom), Sylvio (Angele), Sylvianne, Sylvestre (Cynthia). She has 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She loved travelling and has been back to Mauritius and has spent some time in the UK and South Africa where she loved to visit her children; to Hong-Kong, China visiting many nephews, nieces and other relatives. She also leaves behind many close friends with whom she shared her weekly get togethers chatting, doing tai-chi and dancing at the Hakka club in Chinatown.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 6007 1A Street S.W.,
Calgary, AB T2H 0G5.
