Larry Wayne Domstad

Larry was born in Estevan, SK, on April 4, 1940 and was one of ten children raised by Mildred and Clarence Domstad. Larry spent much of his childhood fishing and becoming the youngest Air Cadet in Canada to earn his pilot’s license. Although, he did not pursue becoming a pilot, he attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he studied Civil Engineering. He met his wife, Rita Girard, in 1962 in Estevan and they were married on July 24, 1965. They had three children, Cindy, Neil and Darrell. Larry worked an unprecedented 50 years with Baker Hughes/Atlas and was well respected as a Manager, Sr. Log Analyst, and Sr. Sales Representative. He was a simple man who left a profound impression on all who knew him through his kindness, humble nature and strong sense of integrity. He was loyal and dedicated in all walks of life, but especially to his wife, children, and grandchildren. Larry was a true fan of curling, golf, boxing, hockey, and the Roughriders. Larry’s beautiful blue-eyes and gentle spirit will not be forgotten.

Larry is lovingly remembered by his wife Rita; daughter Cindy (Robert) Gillespie; son Neil (Helen) Domstad; son Darrell (Carrie) Domstad; eight grandchildren Trista, Robert Jr., Kate, Avery, Charlotte, Brady, Taegen, and Nya; and five great-grandchildren Devon, Lukas, Maddie, Izabelle, and Emberly. He is also survived by Clarice (Jim) Jury, Darlene Brownridge, Eileen (Marty) Pasishnek, Jo-Anne (Roy) Rasmussen, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers Ken, Harlan, and Dale Domstad; and his two sisters Eloise Outhwaite and Linda Hala.

A Celebration of Life will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Clark officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Larry’s memory directly to the Tim Horton Children's Foundation, (RR#2, 264 Glen Morris Road E., St. George, ON N0E 1N0).
