Lauraine is the beloved wife of David Keefe; Mother to Jennifer Valstar (Peter), Stephanie Papin (Clinton), and the cherished Grandmaman of Jaymie Lauraine and Natalie Hendrika. She also leaves behind her precious Golden Retriever, Tasha. She is also survived by her siblings Jeanine, Flore, Yvette, Carmen (John), Leo (Lucette), Louise, Denise, Claire, and Pauline (Alex); and sister-in-law Suzanne.
She is predeceased by her parents, Lea Dauphin (d. 1973) and Marcien Pelland (d. 1978); her brother Rheal (d. 2004); and her sister Raymonde (d. 2008).
Lauraine was the youngest of twelve siblings and was the treasured “baby sister” of the bunch. She grew up in Sudbury, Ontario and as a young adult, moved to Toronto, Ontario. She entered a career with Air Canada at a young age where she held various positions, loving each one. Her work with Air Canada brought her so much joy and excitement. She was always happy to go to work and enjoyed her days there. Lauraine formed many friendships within the Air Canada community, many of which are still strong friendships today.
Air Canada brought Lauraine many opportunities, one of which was meeting her future husband, David, on a flight she was working as a Flight Attendant from Toronto to Calgary. Lauraine and David were married November 30, 1974 and have two daughters together. Lauraine lived for her family and gave her whole heart to them. David, Jennifer, and Stephanie were the light of her life and she always made sure they knew that. Lauraine was blessed with twin Granddaughters in August 2009 and she was over the moon about it! Grandmaman was so involved with those two little lives from that moment on.
Lauraine was the most caring and kind soul, and all who knew her loved her. She will forever be remembered as Mom, Grandmaman, and “Laur”. She was the greatest blessing to ever have touched our lives.
A memorial service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 4th Street NW, Calgary Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Thursday January 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta.
