

Laurell “Lorie” Cook passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the age of 74 years. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union for fifty-two years. Lorie was an avid sports fan and also an early fan of the Flames during their infancy in hockey. He loved outdoor activities which included camping, fishing and travel. We will always cherish and remember Lorie’s sense of humour. Lorie is lovingly remembered by his children, Ronald Cook, Brian Cook (Gwen Fraser), Sheryl Slater and Susan Cook; grandchildren Jennifer Slater (David Kroshko) and Lisa Slater (Angela Creamer); and remembered by Rita Cook. He is also survived by his brother Richard (Kathy) Cook and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorie was predeceased by his parents Hilton Cook and Una Cook, brother Kenneth Cook and sister Beverly (Reginald) Fisk. A Memorial Service was held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Alzheimer Society of Calgary, 201, 222 – 58 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2H 2S3 or The Parkinson’s Society, 102, 5636 Burbank Crescent S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 1Z6.
