It is with great sadness and relief that we announce the passing of “Lenny” after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his children Jackie (Bob), Todd (Kerry-Lyne), Tammy (Dion) and Tracy (Tim) and 2 step-children named Dick and Trudy. He also leaves behind 5 siblings: Allan, Dale, Ron, Leona and Gloria and 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as many lifelong friends and extended family. He is predeceased by his loving wife Rita, whom he shared 52 wonderful years with. He will also be joining his sister Marie, his son-in-law Blaine, his granddaughter Shannon and his parents Roderick and Henrietta and many life-long friends.
After his retirement from Lafarge, where he worked as a dispatcher for over 30 years, he could often be found doing countless projects around his home, as well as any home-improvement jobs that his children and grandchildren needed help with. He was a jack of all trades, and a master of them all. No job was too big or too small for him. His motto was “never put off until tomorrow, what you can get done today.” When all the work was completed, he could occasionally be found at the Ogden Legion where he would visit with new and old friends. A special thanks to the palliative home-care teams and to Sean Taylor for all their care and support.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Ogden Legion (2625 – 78 Avenue SE) on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. All friends of Lenny are welcome and encouraged to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Ogden Legion, 2625 - 78 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB T2C 3B7 and/or the Ladies Auxiliary.
Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family in the Guest Book section found adjacent to this biography.
