Mrs. Ljubica Kolaric Maric

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ljubica Maric, beloved wife of 40 years to Milan Maric. Ljubica passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday February 15, 2004 at the age of 61. She is survived by her mother Cecilija, sister Tereza, daughter Mirjana and son Hrvoje. She is also survived by her greatest joy, her grandsons, Liam and Lachlin, along with many relatives in Croatia. Ljubica was born in Klenovnik, Croatia on July 16th, 1942 to Ivan and Cecilija Kolaric. She graduated nursing school in Zagreb, Croatia where she spent 12 years as a nurse caring for others until moving to Calgary with her young family in 1972. She continued to care for others by dedicating herself to the elderly at the Bethany Care Center for 25 years. Ljubica was loved by many and will be missed terribly by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayer Services at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4 St. NW (across from Queen's Park Cemetery), Calgary on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will take place at the Croatian Catholic Parish, 14680 Deer Ridge Drive SE, Calgary, on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Queen's Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ljubica’s name directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 – 29 Street NW, Calgary, T2N 4N2 (403-944-1703).
