Louise Seversen

August 16, 1930 – June 19, 2025
Obituary of Louise Seversen
IN THE CARE OF

South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium

Louise Seversen (nee Bilodeau), aged 94, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at South Health Campus.

Born on August 16, 1930, in the small French-speaking community of Lafleche, Saskatchewan, Louise was the eldest of eight children of Joyce (Giles) and Edmund Bilodeau.

Louise trained as a Registered Nurse at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina and began her career at Princeton General Hospital. After her mother’s early death, she returned home to care for her younger siblings while working at the local hospital. She later moved to Edmonton, where she worked at the Aberhart TB Sanatorium and was introduced to her future husband, Tony Seversen. They married in 1958 and had three children: Rob, Judy, and Brent.

Together, they lived in Sexsmith, St. Albert, Ponoka, Qualicum Beach, and Penticton, where Louise balanced nursing, pharmacy work, and parenting with grace and dedication. After Tony’s tragic passing in 1989, Louise remained in Penticton until 2015, when she moved to Calgary to be closer to her daughter, Judy.

Louise was warm, social, and generous. She loved bridge, gardening, square dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as Nana. They will fondly remember all the time spent at Nana’s house.

She is survived by her children Rob, Judy, and Brent; grandchildren Kristin, Lauren, Christian, Hanna, and Tomas; great-grandchildren Connor, Chloe, and Carter; and siblings Marie, Judith, Josie, and Paul. She leaves behind her beloved friend, Larry, whose unwavering love and companionship were a constant source of strength and joy.

She was predeceased by her husband Tony and siblings Mike, Celine, and Gerry.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date. The family is grateful for the love and support they received during this time.
