Lucinda Belle Udoumoren was born on April 26, 1969 at home in Haiti. She was the youngest of three daughters born to Tom and Ruby Sykes. Having received most of her education in Haiti, she returned to Canada to complete High School and began nurse training, which she graduated from in 1991. She worked at the Foothills Medical Centre for a period of 25 years, doing an outstanding job at what she was most passionate about. Most recently, her profession covered the transplant unit where she touched and saved many lives.
She met Wilson Udoumoren in 1995 and married three years later. From this union, came their three beautiful children, Zachary, born in 1999, Essien, born in 2001, and Luke, born in 2006. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal saviour at a young age and lived out her faith daily. This was demonstrated through service to her church, others around her, and her devotion to the programs her children were in. She was gifted creatively in many ways and never let a challenge stand in her way. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister, and friend to many and spared no expense in giving her all to everyone she interacted with.
She passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, doing what she loved at work. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Wilson and three sons, Zachary, Essien, and Luke; her mother Ruby; her sister Val’s family (Dan, Miguel, Brayden, and Alexis); and her sister Tammy’s family (Esaïe, Natalie, and Isaiah), and numerous other friends and family. She has now been reunited with her father, Tom Sykes, in heaven.
