Madeleine “Muffy” Olga Ferguson passed away peacefully at the South Health Campus on August 29, 2018 at the age of 75 years. Muffy is survived by her children Lawrence H. (Sheila Tikhov) Payne Jr., Cindy Payne, Suzanne (Malcolm) Steenburgh, Brendan (Sarah) Payne, and their father Lawrence Payne Sr.; daughter Sonja (Kevin) Girard; her grandchildren Suzanne, Alec, Malcolm Jr., Ella, David, Charles, Jackson, Janna-Maryn and Victoria. She is also survived by her sisters Diane Howes and Terese Lynch; brother Joseph Gauthier Jr.; and step-children Lori, Shelley, Denise, Sandy and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Dennis, parents Joseph Sr. and Olga Gauthier and sister Gloria.
Muffy’s passion and dedication for her role as a mother extended well beyond her immediate family, as she generously welcomed all into her life and into her home with love and sincerity. Because of her love of children, she was a trustee on the Calgary Catholic School Board for many years.
A private family service will be held.
