Magchelina Tinke

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother (oma, omie), sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Magchelina “Lene” Tinke (nee Scheffel), passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Sunday, November 12, 2023, surrounded by family. She is now home with her Heavenly Father after a difficult struggle with numerous health conditions. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in this struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Betty (Harry), Rob (Ferida), and Trish, grandchildren; Kim (Rob), Brad (Becky), Derrick (MaryAnn), Scott, and Jeffery (Lauren), great grandchildren; Ryan, Addy, Jaxon, Annika, Jacob S, Russel, Jacob T, Claire, and Jeremy, and her brother Gerry; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Lene has always been a woman of perseverance and grace. Lene was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands on December 25, 1930. In 1953, Lene and Hank were married and immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta, a foreign land and foreign language. The family moved to Calgary in 1970, which remained her home until she passed away.

Lene was an avid volunteer for over 30 years, faithful giver, rich communicator, and deeply committed to God, family, and friends. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, but celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator.

Lene was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Hank; son Bill; her siblings, Truis and Peter; and her parents Jacobus and Elizabeth.

A Celebration of Life will be held at River Park Church, 3818 14a Street SW, Calgary, AB on Friday, November 17 at 1:00 pm. Refreshments to follow.
